First, let me define what a Private English lesson is. A Private English Lesson or a Private Lesson is a lesson that is taught by a teacher to a student. This lesson is taught independently from a language school and can be taught at students` homes or at cafés or restaurants. Most teachers want to teach private English lessons because they want to earn additional money. However, many Private English Teachers do not know how to recruit Private English Students.
Before teachers can teach their Private English Students they first need to recruit them. Step 1, to recruiting your students is to identify which students you want to teach. Can you teach English to children, adults, or professionals? Or, do you only want to teach children? Once you determine whom you will be teaching, you can begin the recruitment process.
Step 2 is to determine how you will recruit your students. Sometimes teachers are approached by students that ask them to teach private English lessons. However, I preferred the direct approach in which you set up an online profile on a teaching site to recruit students. The top three sites that I have successfully recruited students are a EigoPass, Enjoy English, and ABC Kara. There are other websites that teachers can also register on which is located in the reference page below. When you setup your profile you need your picture, your name, where you are from, how long you have lived in Japan, the age of students that you teach, what you teach, and lastly a `call and response` command for students to contact you. The picture you use could be a picture of you teaching in class with your younger students or a picture in a cafeteria or a coffee shop with your adult students. Remember your profile is your pre-interview interview for the website agents and your potential students to contact you.
Once your profile is approved by the site administrators, you will have an interview with the site agent. the interview could be in person or online, where you will be asked some questions about why you want to be a Private English teacher. Once you have successively passed the interview the agent will help you to recruit students by introducing students to you be arranging a time and a place for that to happen. At the meeting, you will introduce yourself to your potential Private English Student, show your teaching materials, and then set the next date to begin your Private English lessons.
Let us review the steps. Step 1 is to decide who you would teach-children, adults, or professionals. Step 2 is to sign up on different teaching websites and create your profile, be interviewed by an agent, and then meet your students. Step 3 is to meet your students, and introduce your teaching material, and set a date to begin your Private English Lessons.
